OCEAN FITTS FOR HOUSE DISTRICT 71

Manatee County deserves a government that works for the people who live here, not the people who profit off it.

Ocean is a lifelong 7th generation Floridian running to bring stability, accountability, and affordability back to a district that's been asked to grow faster than it's been allowed to plan.

WHY OCEAN IS RUNNING

Ocean was raised by great-grandparents in St. Petersburg after moving from Chicago at age five, in a family that built its life around public service. A grandmother who worked as a social worker. A mother who works as a librarian. A father who’s a solo-practitioner. That upbringing taught Ocean one thing early: government is the collection of systems people depend on every single day, and when those systems fail, it's working families who pay for it first.

Ocean paused college during the pandemic to help care for a great-grandmother living with dementia, then went back and finished the work, now studying Public Policy and Administration at St. Petersburg College. That same instinct, showing up when your community needs you and staying until the job is done, is why Ocean is running for State Representative in District 71.

THREE PROMISES FOR MANATEE COUNTY

Every policy Ocean runs on comes back to three things: a district that plans ahead, a government that answers to its people, and a life here that's actually affordable.

Stability

"Government should see problems coming, not just clean up after them." Manatee County has grown faster than its roads, water systems, and storm defenses can keep up with. Ocean will push for growth that pays for itself, stronger protections for local control, and real investment in disaster readiness before the next storm hits, not just recovery money after.

Accountability

"Power has to be transparent, restrained, and answerable to the people it affects." Florida's legislature pays its representatives so little that most working people can't afford to serve. Ocean is running to change that, to get personal wealth and corporate donors out of the way of good policy, and to make sure the people making decisions about your life actually have to answer to you.

Affordability

"Judge a policy by the total cost of a stable life, not by whether one bill looks smaller in isolation." Insurance premiums, rent, healthcare, and wages that don't keep up: these aren't separate issues, they're one affordability crisis. Ocean will fight for a functioning property insurance market, healthcare that doesn't disappear the moment you need it most, wages tied to the real cost of living, and housing people who work here can actually afford.
